Die San Mai-Klingen sind mittlerweile fester Bestand des Cold Steel-Sortiments und erfreuen sich großer Beliebtheit. Allerdings werden die feststehenden Messer der Nightfall-Serie in so einer Luxusvariante nur in streng limitierter Auflage produziert. Mit viel Liebe zum Detail und hohen Qualitätsansprüchen wird diese Messerserie aus erstklassigem amerikanischem CPM 3V-Stahl anstatt San Mai-Stahl gefertigt. Der moderne Stahl ist außerordentlich zäh und verschleißfest, weshalb er eine hohe Resistenz bei Schlagwirkungen bietet. Die kräftige und verlässliche Klinge ist extrem scharf geschliffen und wird in der mitgelieferten Secure-Ex-Scheide aufbewahrt. Der strukturierte Griff aus Kray-Ex liegt wunderbar in der Hand und verspricht einen sicheren Umgang. Zusätzlich besitzt der Dolch einen Handschutz, um das versehentliche Abrutschen an die Klinge zu verhindern. Der 3V Tai Pan Dolch ist eine qualitativere Variante des Tai Pans. Das 3V Tai Pan (2020er Modell) mit seinem Satin-Finish ersetzt das nicht mehr produzierte DLC-beschichtete Vorgängermodell.
Cold Steel was founded in 1980 by Lynn C. Thompson and is based in California. Lynn is a true martial arts expert who has been dedicated to the study of many martial arts since his early youth, including Ruy Karate, Thai Boxing, Wado, Jeet Kune Do, Kali and Jiu Jitsu. He is also an extremely good shooter and skilled hunter as well as an excellent fighter in stick fighting, sword fighting, sabre fencing and a master in all types of knife fighting. He practices his martial arts as a full-contact variant, with only a minimum of protective equipment. In addition, he has held countless seminars in knife fighting all over the world over the years, as well as producing training and instructional videos. Lynn develops most of the products himself or in cooperation with his team, which also has martial arts background. All knives are worked out down to the last detail and subjected to countless tests.
