Opinel No.8 Baroudeur Noir Brun - simple pocket knife, from France in the color black-brown, hornbeam wood lacquered handle, with Virobloc safety ring, Sandvik stainless steel blade, with leather loop.
The No. 8 Baroudeur has long been one of Opinel's most popular knives. It is practical, functional as well as versatile for everyday use. This is fully true for the new No.8 Baroudeur Noir Brun of the series. The stainless blade is made of modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel and has the typical 8.5 cm length found on many of the manufacturer's knives. Ingenious and safe is the blade lock, which consists of the Virobloc safety ring. This can be used to secure the cutting edge in the closed and open state. The handle of the knife is made of hornbeam wood, which comes from the French forestry. This is lacquered in a black-brown color. A leather cord is attached to the end of the handle, which can be used to additionally secure the No.8 Baroudeur Noir Brun.
Blade shape
The traditional blade of Opinel is called Yatagan. The shape is inspired by a Turkish saber with a raised tip. The blade was sharpened according to exclusive curved profile and guarantees robustness and easy resharpening.
The Virobloc safety ring was invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. It is present on all folding knives from model N°06. The Virobloc is cut from stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade when open (safe use), it is now also possible to lock the blade when closed (safe transport).
