The Spartan Blades Harsey Nessmuk pays homage to classic American designs inspired by George Washington Sears (1821-1890) and the moderate, ergonomic designs of William W. Harsey Jr. George Washington Sears, also known by his pseudonym "Nessmuk," was a nature lover and adventurer who learned the skills he needed to survive in the wild under the tutelage of a local Narragansett Indian named Nessmuk. He became known for his writings and letters in the Forest and Stream magazine in the 1880s, popularising canoeing, Adirondack lakes, self-guided canoe camping trips and conservation.
The Spartan Blades Harsey Nessmuk is a handy and reliable tool for any avid outdoor enthusiast who shares the principles of "Nessmuk". With an overall length of 25.4 cm and a blade length of 13 cm, it is an ideal choice for various outdoor tasks. The blade is made of durable 1095 Cro-Van steel with a blade thickness of 4.76 mm and a hardness of 56-58 HRC. This combination offers excellent sharpness and durability, so you can count on it even in demanding conditions. The design of the Nessmuk is oriented towards thin blades with sharp edges and a practical length. Whether you're building a fire, pitching a tent, preparing food or whittling wood, the Nessmuk is a versatile tool that will faithfully stand by your side during your adventures in the great outdoors.
Spartan Blades has placed great emphasis on quality materials and precision craftsmanship in the development of the Harsey Nessmuk to ensure that this knife lives up to the high standards of George Washington Sears. It is a combination of tradition and modern craftsmanship that appeals to both collectors and outdoor enthusiasts. Experience the fascination of the wilderness with the Spartan Blades Harsey Nessmuk, a knife that would have made George Washington Sears proud. Spartan Blades impresses knife enthusiasts with high-quality, unique pocket knives and fixed tactical knives. The sturdy knives always come in a wide variety of designs with top workmanship and a good choice of materials. Instead of stainless steel and 420, you get real performance for your money here: from Japanese AUS-8 steel to 1095 Cro-Van to powder metallurgical CPM steel and MagnaCut, everything is included! The company was founded by retired US Army Special Forces Mark Carey and Curtis Iovito. With an unrivaled expertise that comes from 40+ years of professional experience, the two designed and manufactured their first custom knives while still in the military. In 2008, they recognized their potential and decided to produce tactical and outdoor knives on a larger scale. Spartan Blades was born.
The beginnings were spent making knives in an old pre-war barn, and the customer base consisted of friends, acquaintances, old colleagues and absolute knife fans. Today, the still young company can look back on a number of successes and awards won by Spartan Blades with its unusual ideas and excellent designs. The company now delivers worldwide and produces at several locations.
The grading of the knives in the different classes is also definitely interesting:
The Elite Grade with the golden logo only features knives that are actually still made in Southern Pines, North Carolina. They are equipped with the most exclusive materials and will knock the socks off any knife connoisseur.
The Pro Grade with the silver logo are produced in collaboration with Ka-Bar under Pineland Cutlery. Also “Proudly Made in USA” and also high quality, sturdy knives that are not afraid of any outdoor work.
The field grade, underlined by the bronze logo, is suitable for all knife fans who do not have such an open budget. Production takes place abroad. This means that the knives can be offered at a lower price. Despite the good prices, cheap material has not been used here: AUS 8 and CTS-XHP steel are used as well as G10 or carbon fiber.
Whether you are a collector, bushcrafter or blade enthusiast, a Spartan Blades knife is the right choice for everyone!
