The Böker 98k-Damascus is a distinctive collector's knife with an impressive aura. It incorporates a whole lot of German wartime and military history, relying on purely technical and engineering enthusiasm. Borrowing from the "Karabiner 98k" rifle used by German soldiers between 1935 and 1945, the knife brings a very fitting look. The Mauser system itself was developed much earlier, by brothers Franz-Andreas and Peter-Paul Mauser. The bolt action system found its way into the German military as early as 1898 and was thus also used in the " Rifle 98" during WWI.
The blade steel of the folding knife is made from the barrel steel of the Mauser carbine in memory of this craftsmanship. It is not stainless and is brought to a hardness of about 58 HRC. Designed by master smith Chad Nichols in the Ripple pattern, the 80-layer Damascus steel blade features a beauty never seen before and definitely catches everyone's eye. The unusually shaped blade, with a pronounced ricasso and nail nick for opening, folds into a cleanly finished handle piece made of domestic walnut wood. It is locked in place by backlock to ensure greater working safety. The knife is manufactured by hand under very strict quality standards in the Böker manufactory in the knife city of Solingen. It is delivered in a valuable floating display including certificate of authenticity and with individual serial number.
