This high-quality Laguiole is an exceptional exclusive pocket knife that Laguiole en Aubrac from France has equipped with hand-worked handle scales made of mamut tooth. Mamuts lived in the northern hemisphere 100,000 years ago during the ice age. They were fascinated by animals that travelled in herds. A molar tooth from such a mammoth provides the handle material for this fine Laguiole knife. The unique structure of these teeth as well as the hardness of the material require special care in the production of the handle scales, which makes this model an exclusive pocket knife. It is interesting to note that the mamot tooth as a material shows distinct discolourations due to its many millennia of storage in ice and rock layers. This varies from tooth to tooth and gives each knife an individual appearance. Matching this mammoth Laguiole knife are the decorated double plates and the forged spring with the bee. This hand-worked decoration is done by a blacksmith and is his signature for this knife. The 11 cm long blade is very sharply ground and made of 12C27MOD steel. The bolsters and cutting edge are highly glass-polished and match the overall appearance of this unique Laguiole knife from France.
