Rustic design meets Solingen craftsmanship – the Windmühlenmesser R. Herder IBEX 80 Inox Smoked Oak
The Windmill Knife R. Herder IBEX 80 Inox with an elegant smoked oak handle combines proven Solingen quality with natural style. As a compact outdoor pocket knife, it impresses with its excellent workmanship, high functionality, and unique aesthetics. Perfect for everyday use, adventure, and lovers of traditional knives.
Compact blade made of stainless steel
The 8 cm long blade is made of high-quality 1.4116 (X50CrMoV15) chrome-molybdenum-vanadium steel, which is characterized by high corrosion resistance, ease of care, and cutting performance. With a hardness of approximately 57 HRC and a convex grind, it is stable yet precise – ideal for all common cutting tasks on the go or in everyday life.
Safe handling with the ratchet lock
One of the highlights of the IBEX 80 is the ratchet lock – a modern development of the traditional pin lock. The blade can be opened with both hands using the nail nick and locks securely into place. The blade is folded in safely and step by step using the practical ring on the handle. This not only makes the knife safe, but also compliant with § 42a.
Handle made of fine smoked oak – distinctive and robust
The handle made of oiled smoked oak impresses with its dark, warm color and unique grain. The wood is durable, dimensionally stable, and offers an excellent feel. Thanks to its careful workmanship, the knife fits comfortably in the hand – stylish and functional at the same time.
Versatile & handy
With a total length of 20 cm, the IBEX 80 is compact, lightweight, and ideal for everyday use or for carrying in a backpack. Whether hiking, gardening, or picnicking, this knife is always a reliable companion.

For over 150 years, the name Robert Herder has stood for excellent knife quality “Made in Solingen.” Founded in 1872 by Robert Herder at Keusenhof, the company developed from a traditional family of blacksmiths whose roots date back to the 18th century. From the very beginning, Robert Herder focused on quality rather than quantity – with handmade kitchen knives, scissors, and cutlery that were soon appreciated far beyond the borders of Solingen.
Even in the fourth and fifth generations, the company remained true to the principles of craftsmanship and the highest quality materials. Under the leadership of Giselheid Herder-Scholz and Frank Daniel Herder, the company mastered the challenges of globalization and structural change. The philosophy: only a knife made by hand can be truly sharp – and stay that way. That is why Robert Herder revived long-forgotten apprenticeship trades such as grinder and cutter, thereby securing the future of traditional Solingen craftsmanship.
With iconic series such as the K series, Parmoulin, and Grandmoulin, numerous design awards, and a global distribution network in 24 countries, the family-owned company proves that tradition and innovation are not mutually exclusive.
The credo remains the same:
“Good knives are made by hand.”
And you can feel it – with every cut.
