Arto is a traditional French company whose history goes back to 1937. In 2008, the brand l'HIPPOCAMPE, meaning "The Seahorse", was taken over by Cyril Ganivet, who continued the atelier under the name Arto. The knives produced by Arto are an indispensable part of the French way of life and delight knife lovers all over the world.  The blades of Arto knives are made of high-quality materials, including SANDVIK 12C27, A440 and, on some models, carbon steel XC75. The handles are made from hand-selected raw materials and the manufacturing quality has been refined over the years. Each knife is made purely by hand, by a single knifemaker from start to finish, and goes through various stages as well as constant quality checks to ensure high quality. Arto is proud of the logo that adorns each knife: The seahorse. The combination of regional and traditional knives, forged blade quality, hand-selected handles and the meticulous production in pure handwork makes Arto a valuable and first-class manufacturer of knives.
