Schlank, flink und gefährlich! Wie auch der tierische Namensgeber ist das Tai Pan genau so passend mit den gleichen Eigenschaften zu beschreiben. Das von Lynn C. Thompson entworfene Einsatzmesser überzeugt mit einem durchdachten Design und eleganter Linienführung. Die 19 cm lange Dolchklinge besitzt eine feine Spitze, mit der auch präzise Schnitte genauestens ausgeführt werden können. Der verwendete San Mai VG-10 Stahl ist ein besonderer Dreilagenstahl, der nur bei wenigen Sammlermessern verwendet wird. Dieser besteht aus einer mittleren Schicht aus hartem Kohlenstoffstahl, welcher zwischen Kohlenstoffarmen Federstahl eingeschlossen ist. Dadurch besitzt er ausgezeichnete Schneideigenschaften und ist dennoch extrem bruchsicher und hält auch starke Schockbelastungen aus. Der Griff aus Kray-Ex schmiegt sich angenehm an jede Hand an, und durch die stark ausgeprägten Textur ist ein ungewolltes Abrutschen unmöglich. Mit im Lieferumfang enthalten ist eine Secure-Ex Kunststoffscheide, die das Tai Pan sicher transportiert.
Cold Steel was founded in 1980 by Lynn C. Thompson and is based in California. Lynn is a true martial arts expert who has been dedicated to the study of many martial arts since his early youth, including Ruy Karate, Thai Boxing, Wado, Jeet Kune Do, Kali and Jiu Jitsu. He is also an extremely good shooter and skilled hunter as well as an excellent fighter in stick fighting, sword fighting, sabre fencing and a master in all types of knife fighting. He practices his martial arts as a full-contact variant, with only a minimum of protective equipment. In addition, he has held countless seminars in knife fighting all over the world over the years, as well as producing training and instructional videos. Lynn develops most of the products himself or in cooperation with his team, which also has martial arts background. All knives are worked out down to the last detail and subjected to countless tests.
