The ESEE Knives Model 5 Survival is a powerful and robust knife designed for the toughest conditions and setting the standard for many local, state and federal law enforcement officers. This knife is known for its versatility and durable construction, making it ideal for both hunting and survival situations.
The centrepiece of the Model 5 is the 13.7 cm full tang blade, which is made of high-quality 1095 high carbon steel. This steel is known for its excellent cutting ability and durability, making it perfect for demanding tasks. The blade comes super sharp from the ESEE factory in the USA and is protected from rust and unwanted reflections by an extremely durable desert tan powder coating. The back of the blade also features jimping for added grip when cutting.
The handle scales of this well-thought-out outdoor knife are made from light grey canvas micarta, a durable and water-repellent material that ensures a secure and comfortable grip. An integrated finger guard prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade, and at the end of the handle there is a practical glass breaker and a lanyard hole. The left handle also has a hollow that can be used as a base for a ‘bow drill’, making the knife very useful in survival situations.
The Model 5 comes with a black Kydex sheath and a belt clip plate that offer flexible carrying options and keep the knife safe and handy. With a blade thickness of 6.3 mm and a steel hardness of 57 HRC according to Rockwell, the knife offers an impressive combination of strength and durability. The overall length of the knife is 27.7 cm with a total weight of 453 g, creating an ideal balance between size and handling.

In 1997, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin set out to combat the over-hyped and heavily exploited survival scene by opening their own survival school, which would again offer hands-on, self-tested survival training. Working with the Peruvian Air Force's "Escuela De Supervivencia En La Selva" (School of Survival in the Jungle), they quickly rose to the top of the most popular survival schools. However, they soon realised that most of the tools advertised as survival knives were hardly up to the standards of professionals. As a result, some time later they started to develop and produce knives according to their own ideas. That was the beginning of ESEE KNIVES. The practical companions quickly became known throughout the outdoor scene and inspire survival professionals all over the world.
