The ESEE-5 is a survival knife specially designed for US pilots who have parachuted in and need a knife that is as versatile and robust as possible.
It is made of 1095carbon steel and powder coated to protect it from corrosion. The partial serrated edge in the lower part of the blade ensures better properties when cutting textile material. The blade thickness of over 6 mm results in a considerable weight of almost one pound and makes the modern survival knife an extremely robust and versatile outdoor companion. The knife features a sharpened glass breaker pommel, screwed Micarta handle scales with milled out bearing shell for fire drilling, an eyelet for a lanyard and a MOLLE-compatible Kydex sheath with an ambidextrous belt clip and corresponding mounting material. It has an overall length of approx. 28 cm, a blade length of approx. 13.8 cm and a maximum blade thickness of approx. 6.35 mm. The knife weight without sheath is 454 g.

In 1997, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin set out to combat the over-hyped and heavily exploited survival scene by opening their own survival school, which would again offer hands-on, self-tested survival training. Working with the Peruvian Air Force's "Escuela De Supervivencia En La Selva" (School of Survival in the Jungle), they quickly rose to the top of the most popular survival schools. However, they soon realised that most of the tools advertised as survival knives were hardly up to the standards of professionals. As a result, some time later they started to develop and produce knives according to their own ideas. That was the beginning of ESEE KNIVES. The practical companions quickly became known throughout the outdoor scene and inspire survival professionals all over the world.
