Claude Dozorme

CLAUDINE DOZORME, A CUTLERY MANUFACTURER MADE IN AUVERGNE  The story starts in 1902 in La Monnerie, near Thiers. Blaise Dozorme, a skilled steelworker, decided to use his knowledge to create a small workshop for making knives in his home. His work as a sub-contractor, his professionalism, and his strong sense of duty earned him a certain reputation in the Thiers area. His entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with a dominant personality, led his colleagues to call him the "Wolf". A few decades later, the Dozorme company would use this nickname as the basis for its logo and graphic identity.

Taken over by his son Valentin in 1934, the small workshop has progressively made a name for itself, further solidifying its know-how and leaving its mark on the cutlery industry in the Thiers region. In the 1970s, however, the family business began to develop on a larger scale. The company was now run by Claude, son of Valentin and grandson of Blaise, who decided to invest massively in tools and machinery to expand and develop the business. At that time, he decided to produce knives with specific names and market them mainly through trade fairs. The Claude Dozorme brand was born in the early 1980s, as was its first creation: the first Laguiole non-folding table knife. The pioneer of these manufacturing techniques, who officially received the title of Maître Artisan Coutelier, was from then on constantly committed to developing the brand.

Claudine Dozorme

From generation to generation! In 1991, Claudine Dozorme, Claude Dozorme's daughter, took over the management of the family business. Until then, nothing had hinted that she would one day work in the cutlery industry. In 1984, after graduating from high school and 2 years of preparatory studies, she was admitted to the Ecole Supérieure de Gestion de Paris (ESCP) before joining the Kraft General Foods Agro-Food Group as Sales Manager. She stayed with Kraft until 1991, when her father asked her to help him develop his brand. She did so by taking over the sales and marketing department, distributing Claude Dozorme knives to various dealers and leading a France-wide sales team. Developing the brand, integrating new manufacturing processes, creating catalogues and sample products, thinking strategically about new models and materials ... The arrival of this spirited young woman revolutionised the small family business. With Claudine Dozorme, you can feel the passion, dedication and professionalism with which she has welded together a piece of tradition and modernity.
