The design of the Tactical Knife Model CQC-4K comes from the well-known knifemaker Ernest Emerson, who has been making his tactical knives since the 1970s. As a close combat instructor for many special forces, author of books on tactics, training and deployment, he is known worldwide. Kershaw with his fine mechanics and Ernest Emerson with the well-known functionality have designed this knife model.
The knife's single-edged, black anodised 8.1 cm blade is made of 8Cr14MoV stainless steel. The blade can be opened either via a thumb disc or via the Wave opening aid opening aid directly when pulling it out of the trouser pocket, to then be securely locked in working position by the frame lock. The handle with lanyard loop and black belt clip fits securely in the hand thanks to the finely textured coyote brown G10 scales. The back of the knife is made of 410 steel with the frame lock.

Kershaw was founded in Portland, Oregon in 1974. Many well-known knife designers such as Ken Onion from Hawaii, Grant Hawk and his son Gavin, Launce Barber and others develop interesting knives for Kershaw. Some models come with Ken Onion's SpeedSafe mechanism, which manually raises the blade slightly, then a spring ensures the blade opens in a flash.
