A good knife can be recognized by the fact that it simply works – day after day, handle after handle. The helpful Marttiini Kätevä is just such a reliable everyday companion: compact, robust, and with a dash of Finnish tradition. In the 1970s, this small outdoor knife was part of the basic equipment of almost every Finnish household. Whether peeling potatoes in the kitchen or carving in the forest, the Kätevä was always there. Today, this classic is back in an updated form, without denying its roots.
With its 7.5 cm long blade made of stainless steel, the Kätevä offers the ideal balance between cutting performance and easy maintenance. The short, stable blade shape allows for precise work where control is required – whether camping, gardening or doing everyday crafts. The finely grained birch handle is particularly secure in the hand thanks to its width and gives the fixed blade knife its natural, warm feel. A real treat for the hands, as you would expect from Nordic workshops.
Of course, the high-quality leather sheath is also included: made to fit perfectly and equipped with a belt loop, it accompanies the knife safely wherever you go. Whether you use it for hiking, carving, or small kitchen tasks, the Marttiini Kätevä is an all-rounder with a history. It combines everyday practicality and Finnish knife tradition in an elegant tool that can proudly bear the name “Marttiini knife.” A piece of Nordic culture that should be part of every outfit.

The Finnish knife maker Marttiini is known for its high-quality hunting and fishing knives. Founder Janne Marttiinni began producing handmade knives, scythes and axes in the rural village of Kierinki in northern Finland in 1902. In 1928, he opened his own forge in Rovaniemi, where he produced a wide range of sturdy and well-crafted knives. Demand quickly grew. In 1940, Marttiini built his first factory, which was partially destroyed in 1944 during the Second World War. After the war, the factory was rebuilt in the center of Rovaniemie. Today, the factory shop is located on the site and is called “Marttiini's Old Factory”. Due to the many different knife models and the constant growth, a new, modern production facility was built in 1972, where the knives are still manufactured today. More than 300 different models are still produced by hand using traditional methods and are constantly being improved. Outdoor enthusiasts, collectors, chefs and many other professional users appreciate the outstanding quality of Marttiini knives and always have them with them as a loyal companion.
