154CM

154CM steel has not been around for very long. Developed for aerospace applications, the material first appeared in the 1950s and was soon used to make cutlery and cutlery. Today, this metal is as popular as ever and is still considered a solid choice for kitchen and outdoor knives. 154CM steel was developed in the United States in 1959 by Crucible Industries. The company is known for producing high quality steel for aerospace, automotive and industrial applications.

The name 154CM refers to the metal composition: 15% chromium and 4% molybdenum. It has a similar structure and similar properties to the better-known 440C stainless steel.
According to Crucible Industries, the Rockwell hardness of 154CM steel can be between 60 and 61. This is a very impressive value that puts the metal in the same league as knives made of high-quality carbon steel. Thanks to the high percentage of carbon in 154CM, blades made of this metal have good wear resistance. Such a blade also has good stiffness, so it is unlikely to bend during use.
However, because of the excellent edge retention, it is somewhat more difficult to sharpen a 154CM blade. The carbon and silicon and manganese in the structure of the metal increase the hardness. With practice, however, sharpening 154CM is not too difficult and you will not have to do it too often.

154CM is a high-quality stainless steel that is widely used in the knife world. It is also known as CM154 and has exactly the same composition as the Japanese ATS-34. Compared to conventional stainless steels such as 440C, 154CM has higher corrosion resistance, higher wear resistance and higher hot hardness. The composition is exactly the same as CPM-154, the only difference being the CPM process. This makes it an excellent choice for knives that are used frequently and intensively.

For knifemakers, 154CM offers better edge retention than 440C and allows them to produce high quality, long lasting knives. It also has a higher achievable hardness and better through-hardening properties than 440C, giving it a longer life and greater sharpness.

Another advantage of 154CM is that it is easier to machine than the modern variant CPM-154, which makes it easier for knife manufacturers to process and reduces production costs. Overall, 154CM offers excellent performance and durability, making it a preferred choice for high quality knives.

Based on the above information, I require a detailed and beautifully written description of the steel. In German, as continuous text with a length of approx. 3000 characters.
