CondorTK is a renowned manufacturer of outdoor knives and machetes, which are always designed with a focus on practical use. The result is primarily mighty bushcraft and survival knives, each in a very specific style and often with a connection to history or mysticism. This is also the case with the Balam Knife. This time it is about a divine figure, Balam, which finds its origin in the Mayan culture. Anchored there as a deity of the underworld, Balam appears in the form of a jaguar.
With the pure strength of such an animal in mind, the Balam Knife is a powerful outdoor knife that resembles a small machete. The 22.8 cm long blade made of sharp 1075 carbon steel is a real force. It cuts and chops through any branches and is a reliable aid when building a camp. The grained micarta handle scales are reminiscent of a fur pattern, once again building a bridge to the original. The robust full tang construction can withstand a lot, making the Balam the right candidate for heavier work. The knife is not stainless, but offers comparatively better values in edge retention, sharpness and sharpenability than steel in a similar price category. With a little oil and a dry cloth after use, however, this is no problem at all. The beast is stowed in a precisely fitting Kydex sheath.

The history of Condor Tool & Knife goes back to 1787, when the Weyersberg brothers founded a company in Solingen to manufacture swords, military knives, cutlery and agricultural tools. Then, in 1964, the company IMACASA was founded in Santa Ana in El Salvador and the factory was well equipped with the most modern German tools and the employees were sent to Solingen for intensive training. Today, this factory produces machetes, axes, shovels and other hand tools of the highest quality. IMACASA was sold to local investors in 1980 and is now one of the largest machete and shovel manufacturers in the world. Then, in 2004, when additional knives and tools were developed for the North American and European markets, Condor Tool & Knife was born.
