satinised surface

Satin finishing is the process by which surfaces are made matt. The appearance ranges from matt to matt-glossy, whereby a much more even surface is created than is the case with sanding. This process is also known in common language as "brushing". The surface can be imagined as if it were covered with countless small strokes, which are permanently visible. The advantage of this is that most scratches blend in and do not stand out in a disturbing way. Also fingerprints are no problem due to the matt surface. The negative side is that rusting steels require more care, as the uneven surface reduces the corrosion protection.
