The Windmühlenmesser R. Herder IBEX 100 Inox Thermo Beech is a versatile outdoor pocket knife with impressive cutting performance. The blade of the rustic folding knife is made of stainless chrome-molybdenum-vanadium steel, which is known for its excellent corrosion resistance and durability. The steel, known as 1.4116 (X50CrMoV15), contains around 0.55 % carbon and 15 % chromium, which ensures a hardness of approx. 57 HRC. This composition offers a perfect balance between sharpness and edge retention, so that the blade retains its sharpness even with intensive use. The steel is also easy to care for and ideal for use in a variety of weather conditions.The blade of the IBEX measures approx. 10 cm in length and has a back thickness of 2.5 mm. Its convex grind geometry gives the blade robust stability and a precise cutting edge at the same time. The straight spine of the blade only drops slightly near the tip, which gives the blade a high degree of stability and enables precise cutting. This blade shape, which is reminiscent of the classic sheepfoot blade, is particularly suitable for cutting and severing a wide range of materials in the outdoor sector.

Another highlight is the innovative ratchett lock. This modern version of the traditional tang lock ensures that the blade is securely locked in place and is easy and safe to use. The blade can be opened effortlessly with two hands via the nail nick and engages securely in the back spring, ensuring a firm and reliable lock. To close, the spring is released via a ring on the handle, allowing the blade to be folded in safely in controlled steps. This mechanism increases safety and prevents the blade from accidentally slamming shut.

The handle is made of thermally modified beech wood, also known as thermo beech. The thermal treatment gives the wood a dark, warm color and makes it particularly resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations. This modification not only improves the durability of the wood, but also gives the handle an elegant, rustic look. The ergonomic shape of the handle ensures a pleasant feel and combines functionality with natural elegance.
