D2
As a tool steel from the USA, D2 steel has made a real name for itself in the knife industry. Its history goes back to the invention of stainless steel as one of the first chromium-alloyed, high-carbon steels. D2 brings together the advantages of molybdenum, vanadium, carbon and chromium to form a high-performance steel that works fantastically well for machines and tools in particular, as well as for knives of all kinds. The steel combines edge retention, corrosion resistance, toughness and hardenability at a good level. It is not considered a stainless steel, but rather a corrosion-resistant tool steel. → The bottom line is that D2 tool steel performs extremely well in the areas of wear resistance and toughness. In the areas of edge retention and hardness, the steel is also convincing. Blades made of D2 can often be found in the lower to medium price segment and promise a strong price/performance ratio. Knives with D2 steel can usually be purchased from 50€. Recommendation for: Outdoor knives, work knives, pocket knives, EDC's.
